A Story of Rings

Image
A wedding ring is a crucial part of the wedding because the ring symbolizes an unending and eternal circle of love between the couple. It represents their commitment to each other and is worn to show the world they are married. This emblem of love is exchanged on their wedding day and symbolizes the couple's pledge to each other. So, a man gives his bride a ring and the bride does the same.  But actually is all starts with the engagement ring that is given at the time of the proposal… The guy proposes to his girlfriend and her acceptance of the ring says she has agreed marry him. Often the proposal can be a whole ceremony on its own; from an intimate affair to an event that could include family and friends. Whenever people see the lady, the engagement ring on her finger makes everyone know she is taken.  Sometimes though, all our attention is on the ceremony, the caterers, the event planner, the outfits, the funfair and in a time of social media; the views also matter....

The enemy fights CONSISTENCY

Image
The image for this week's message speaks to the title. It is the image of a windmill on a farm. We can see the farm with crops growing nicely and if all goes well, it will be a great harvest but above the windmill we can see lightning looming and about to strike the windmill. A windmill is a structure that converts wind power into rotational energy using vanes called sails or blades. Traditionally in the olden days, windmills were used to grind grains, pump water and cut wood. However with advances in technology, windmills also known as wind turbines now generate electricity by converting the wind’s kinetic energy into mechanical energy and then electrical energy.  All things being equal, a windmill will work seamlessly but one thing that can affect the smooth and consistent running of a windmill is lightning. A lightning strike can do great damage. Lightning can destroy the smooth running of a windmill. It can cause structural, electrical or blade damage and even a fire. Li...

This thing Called LOVE

Image
Love is a vital and indispensable ingredient when it comes to faith that produces and it should be easy enough to love until the enemy steps in. Galatians 5 and verse says Faith works by love.  It is not news that we should walk in love. We know it and know the role love plays so why do Christians keep stumbling where their love-walk is concerned? It is easy to read your Bible and share what you read but not so easy to do what you read and shared with somebody else. Love is so powerful that a defective love-walk can destroy your health, finances, marriage, business, your relationships and everything else.  The devil knows how important love is for your overall spiritual, mental and physical health and so he tailor-makes situations specifically to get you and hold you back. He knows you will not progress as long as you stay in strife and that the Word will not produce for you and neither will your faith work and so he is focused on keeping you in strife .  Strife...

Everything Clicks When It Is God

Image
Something amazing happened over the weekend that could only have been a combination of prayer, the will of God and angelic intervention, and it got me thinking. We had traveled to Nyeri because my husband was ministering in a church there. He was to minister on Saturday morning and then we were to head back to Nairobi for another meeting on Saturday afternoon. However, the church in Nyeri asked if he would take their two services on Sunday as well. They had no idea he had a meeting in Nairobi after the breakfast meeting they had invited him for. Well, my husband turned it over, felt a release to minister in the Nyeri church on Sunday and so he accepted their invitation; thus we had a packed and busy weekend with a good part of the weekend spent on the road!!!  We had prayed about the meeting in Nyeri and the one in Nairobi. Both were God-ordained and we were excited to see what God would do at both meetings. However, for the timings to work perfectly, we needed to finish t...

Character in Marriage - SELF-CONTROL

Image
We have been doing an in-depth study on character from Galatians 5:22-23 using the fruit of the Spirit as our theme. The fruit of the Spirit are nine character traits that we should all exhibit especially if we are in a long-term relationship like marriage.  Marriage only works well when the partners have mastered the right character traits. They don't fly off the handle even when they think it is justified to do so. It is interesting how things can end differently if you just step back, take a deep breath and hold your tongue; and I'll talk about this a bit more today using my marriage as an example.  Like I said, our theme scripture is Galatians 5:22-23 and the character trait we will be looking at today is Self-control ! But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [gentleness, self-control . Against such there is no law - Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV So what is Self-Control?  “ Self-control according to the dictionary is ...

Character in Marriage - GENTLENESS

Image
I hope these articles on character have been a blessing and an eye-opener to you. Marriage is work. It is hard work and that is why happily-ever-after does not just happen; you have to work at it. When a couple first get married, they believe that it will be happily ever after but a lot of the time, they will not do the work that happily-ever-afters demands.  They expect that their love for each will help them through any tough times but this is not true. For those who are married or have been in relationships, you will agree that love is not enough to keep a relationship strong. That is why we have been learning about godly character and like I have said over and over during these series, christian marriages would have a better chance of survival if the parties in the marriage exhibited godly character.  So we will go back to our theme scripture, Galatians 5:22-23. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [gentle...

Character in Marriage - FAITHFULNESS

Image
We continue our study on Christian character and today we will look at faithfulness. Our theme scripture remains the same. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness , [gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV Can you tell that these character traits would make a huge difference if you would just incorporate them into your life? Start now if you have not yet begun to develop them. Start with one character trait and it will lead to others. You see, all these character traits (fruit of the Spirit), originate from the Spirit of God and once you begin to practice or develop one character trait, it leads to developing others too.  Situations tend to bring out character traits that are undesirable when we lack godly character. That is why arguments between couples get out of hand. One or both partners chose to yield to their emotions when they disagree. Now imagine if you begin to develop and pract...

Character in Marriage - GOODNESS

Image
We continue to discuss character in the home and today's character trait is interesting. It is goodness and our theme scripture remains the same.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness , faithfulness, [gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law -  Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV Goodness!!! (I am not referring to the exclamation - “Oh my goodness” which is usually used to express shock, surprise or awe) So, what is goodness? Well, let's start with the word Good  from which the word goodness is derived. It means to the required qualities and at a high standard. It also means to be morally upright. In the Bible, the word good means moral goodness but also refers to outward beauty that is aesthetically pleasing. The second meaning was what God meant during the creation in Genesis 1. Everything he made was good or aesthetically pleasing. So God is good inside out. He is morally upright and aesthetically pleasing. Or bette...

Character in Marriage - KINDNESS

Image
As we have dealt with the character traits that help a marriage to work and flourish, I believe this has been a blessing and an eye-opener to you. Have you been working on yourself and manifesting these character traits? If you have, I am sure you have been seeing the benefits. And if you have not seen the benefits yet, keep at it; it is not too late.  So far, we have looked at a few character traits - Love, Joy and Peace, Longsuffering and today, we will look at Kindness !!! Our theme scripture has been Galatians 5:21-22. [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness , goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law -  Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV Kindness is a character trait that is non-existent in many marriages. In fact, it is a character trait that is non-existent in many people. People seem to have forgotten what it means to be kind but it is a character trait that will take you really far. So, what is...

Character in Marriage - LONGSUFFERING

Image
I am very excited about our topic today!!! We have been learning about character and in particular the character traits that help a marriage to work and flourish. So far, we have looked at a few character traits - Love, Joy and Peace and today  🥁 🥁 🥁…. we are looking at Longsuffering !!! Our theme scripture has been Galatians 5:21-22 [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering , kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law - Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV Someone defined longsuffering as the ability to suffer long 😁, and I am sure many of us feel like we have been there. In situations where we had to suffer long because of somebody else. It was so hard to keep quiet and bear the situation and you were so relieved when it was over right 😫? Well, to start, let's look at the meaning of longsuffering.  In the dictionary, longsuffering is defined as having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially tro...

Are you Ready to Wait Forever?

We just finished 40 powerful Days of Morning Praise and on the very last day, my husband made this statement: " If you are ready to wait forever, you will not have to wait for long"  and that statement really hit me. The premise of that statement is that, if you believe that God has heard and answered you, you will be at peace and be ready to wait for what you are convinced has already happened no matter how long it might take. If you believe you have the thing you have believed God for, you will not be running helter skelter because nothing appears to be happening. For most Christians though, our toughest time is while we are waiting for the answer, the miracle, the manifestation or breakthrough. It can be a tough time because nothing appears to be happening; so how do you wait at such times? That is my question:  Are you ready to wait forever or can you keep waiting without seeing anything? For most of us, we can wait as long as it is not for long. We trust God and believe h...

The Harvest is Coming....!!!

Image
Farmers always want to plant good seed on their farms. They know that good seed will in turn produce a good harvest and farmers love harvest time! They look forward to harvest time with anticipation because they have worked hard to sow their seed. They have worked hard to nourish their seedlings with water, sunlight, fertilizers and any other thing that the crops may need. They are diligent in doing this because they know it will affect the harvest they get.  If the crops are denied any of the above for instance, they know it will affect their harvest. So, let's say the rains come in late or not at all, there will be little or no harvest. If there is a drought and the farmer has no access to any other source of water besides the rain, he knows he is in trouble. If there is an infestation of locusts in the area for instance, he knows his crops will be destroyed and that there will be no harvest.  And if he is unable to buy fertilizers to enhance his soil, he knows there will be...
