The Harvest is Coming....!!!

Farmers always want to plant good seed on their farms. They know that good seed will in turn produce a good harvest and farmers love harvest time! They look forward to harvest time with anticipation because they have worked hard to sow their seed. They have worked hard to nourish their seedlings with water, sunlight, fertilizers and any other thing that the crops may need. They are diligent in doing this because they know it will affect the harvest they get.

If the crops are denied any of the above for instance, they know it will affect their harvest. So, let's say the rains come in late or not at all, there will be little or no harvest. If there is a drought and the farmer has no access to any other source of water besides the rain, he knows he is in trouble. If there is an infestation of locusts in the area for instance, he knows his crops will be destroyed and that there will be no harvest.

And if he is unable to buy fertilizers to enhance his soil, he knows there will be a poor harvest. The farmer knows that to grow healthy crops full of nutrients, he needs to ensure that the soil is healthy and without fertilizers, nature struggles to replenish the nutrients in the soil. This is because when crops are harvested, important nutrients are removed from the soil, because they follow the crop and end up at the dinner table.

However, if a farmer is able to provide all the things his crops need and there are no surprises like locusts that come to destroy the crops or flash floods that carry everything away; he knows he is going to have a good harvest. He has done his job and can eagerly await harvest time.

But what if there was a lazy farmer who did not bother too much with his farm? He was just chilled. What if he just planted any old seed and did not bother with putting fertilizers in his soil? What if the rains came in late and he just crossed his fingers and hoped his crops would grow. What if he did not go to his farm regularly but stayed at home drinking? And what if weeds took over the farm because there was nobody to weed them out? What if he did all this and then eagerly looked forward to harvest time.

If he expected to get a bumper harvest like the other farmers who were working round the clock, people would be shocked and would laugh at the lazy farmer and consider him a joker. Why? Well, they know he did not do his part so they know his harvest will reflect his effort. Galatians 6 and verse 9 talks about such a farmer. One who thinks he can get what he wants without sowing the necessary seed.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

It says God cannot be mocked or deceived. Why? Because God is the Lord of the harvest. He is the one who blesses the seed but the seed has to be sown first.  The seed you sow determines what you will reap but often Christians are like the lazy farmer, expecting to reap BIG yet they do not sow big. But what exactly is the seed being referenced here?

[7] Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. [8] Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit - Galatians 6:7-9 NLT

The seed is your life and how you live it but the seed also refers to sowing and being a blessing to those who teach the word. In the previous verse, (verse 6) it talks about sharing, or giving or sowing to those who teach the word.

[6] Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them - Galatians 6:6 NLT

So, be a blessing to those who teach you the word but more than that understand that your life is also a seed. Your way of life is a seed and you can either sow to your flesh by obeying all the dictates of your five senses or you can sow to the Spirit obeying the Spirit of God. You can give all your flesh demands or give your Spirit all that it demands while ignoring the voice of your flesh. Whichever you sow into, will determine the harvest you get and there is ALWAYS a harvest!

[9] So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up - Galatians 6:9 NLT

Do not get tired of doing good, being a blessing and living for God. Harvest time is coming and you want a bumper harvest so do not give up. The NKJV says you will reap if you faint not! Fainting, throwing in the towel or giving up is never an option. Why? Because harvest-time is certain and it is coming!!!

There is a proverb in my language that goes this way - "Ẹni bá da omi síwájú, á tẹ ilẹ̀ tútù” and it means - Whoever pours water on the ground ahead of him, will step on wet ground. In other words, it means you will reap what you sow.

The seed tells the same story and our lives tell the same story too. We can only reap what we have sown. Like that proverb, the ground ahead of you is only cool or wet if you poured water ahead of you onto that ground. So, do not get weary or tired this week. A good harvest is coming if you will keep doing good and do not yield to your flesh. A good harvest is on the way💃🏾 💃🏾 💃🏾 💃🏾 💃🏾.

Flourish in God this week ❤️
